Town of Wallace Tax Department
In accordance with the General Statutes of North Carolina and the Ordinances of
the Town of Wallace, the Tax Department is responsible for the billing and
collection of real property tax and personal property tax levied on all
properties within its corporate limits. In addition, the Town is responsible to
bill and collect privilege (business) license for each and every business
operating within its corporate limits.
Real Property Tax/Personal Property Tax
Tax rates are established each July 1st by the Town Council of Wallace. Town
tax invoices for both real and personal property are mailed in July of each
year and payment is due September 1st. When full payment is received prior to
September 1st, a 1% discount is allowed. Taxes become delinquent on the
following January 6th, and a 2% penalty is applied to the balance.
The 2006 property tax rate is $.66 per $100.00 of tax value.
Privilege (Business) License
Each business operating within the corporate limits of the Town of
Wallace is required to make application for a privilege (business) license at
the Town Hall Administration Office at 316 E. Murray Street, Wallace, NC.
Privilege License costs are based on business types and are renewed annually.
Invoices are mailed in June and payment is due no later than July 1st of each
year.
Payment of Taxes and Licenses
Payments may be mailed to Town of Wallace, PO Box 849, Wallace, NC
28466 or paid at the Wallace Town Hall Administration Office located at 316 E.
Murray Street, Wallace, NC, 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Credit card
payments are also accepted; however, a 3% convenience charge is added.
