Fall Baseball Pitching Clinic

The Wallace Parks and Recreation Department will offer a fall pitching and catching baseball clinic starting in September, and is open to all boys ages 7-12 years of age. This will be a 6 week long clinic meeting once a week on Sunday afternoons. Players will learn both basic and advanced fundamentals of pitching and catching. The clinic will focus on proper pitching mechanics, stance, delivery, pitch selection and fielding the position for pitchers. The catchers will focus on setup, sign giving, receiving, footwork and blocking. Both pitchers and catchers will receive information on how to handle the mental aspect of the game. The clinic will be coached by Wallace-Rose Hill varsity pitching coach Kevin Hager. Coach Hager has been a part of the WRH coaching staff for 6 years. He was an All-Conference pitcher for St. Stephens High School in Hickory, NC. As a True freshman at UNCW, Coach Hager was the team leader in appearances, ERA and wins during the 1998 season. Coach Hager was a member of the 1998 All American Amateur Baseball Association’s National Championship team, Arlington Senators. The Wallace Parks and Recreation will host a 4 week youth softball clinic in September. This clinic is open to all girls ages 7-12 years of age.  Players will meet once a week on Saturdays to develop and improve their fielding, throwing, hitting, base running, pitching and catching skills. The clinic will provide athletes an opportunity to improve their skills through basic and advanced drills that will help teach the fundamentals of the game of softball. The clinic will be headed up by Wallace-Rose Hill Head Varsity softball coach Cory Lovelace. Coach Lovelace took over as head coach last season and led the Lady Bulldogs into the state playoffs. Pitchers and catchers will be taught by Candace Bizzell. A graduate of WRH High School, Candace was a starting pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs as a freshman.
